Course Overview

Grade XI Physics provides a strong foundation in classical and modern physics suitable for higher-level science studies. The course begins with the mathematical tools needed for physics, followed by a deep study of measurement, units, errors, and the scientific method.

Students then explore mechanics, which includes motion in one and two dimensions, Newton’s laws, work-energy principles, circular motion, gravitation, and properties of matter. Special focus is given to understanding how forces act, how bodies move, and how energy is conserved in different physical systems.

The course also covers fluid mechanics, including viscosity, surface tension, pressure, and Bernoulli’s principle—concepts needed for real-life applications such as airplane lift, hydraulics, and blood flow.

Students learn the fundamentals of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and kinetic theory of gases, helping them connect molecular behavior to macroscopic physical quantities like temperature and pressure.

The oscillation and wave section develops concepts of SHM, wave propagation, sound, and resonance. This builds a base for Grade XII topics such as wave optics and sound phenomena.

In the optics unit, learners study reflection, refraction, mirrors, lenses, dispersion, and optical instruments, enabling them to understand eye defects, glasses, microscopes, and telescopes.

The electricity and magnetism section introduces electric charge, electric fields, potential, capacitors, direct current circuits, and magnetism of materials—all core foundations for electronics and electromagnetism in Grade XII.
